The CanRisk pan-Canadian study is a Public Health Agency of Canada initiative designed to help the general population to identify their risk of pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. The study, which has now been running for several years, revealed a lack of data on Black African and Caribbean populations aged 18 to 39 living in the Montreal area.

To address this issue, a research team from the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, with funding from the federal government, will be inviting the population of this area  to undergo screening for type 2 diabetes with the aim of collecting a sample of 300 people from this socio-demographic group. At the end of the collection process, the data will be transferred to the Public Health Agency of Canada for analysis.

In this project, Polygon will support the research team by facilitating recruitment through the implementation of a short eligibility questionnaire on our ASI* platform. To simplify the recruitment process, this questionnaire will be linked to a platform for scheduling appointments with nurses at one of the two screening centres.

Together with the research team, Polygon will also design a visual identity and develop a website in three languages (French, English and Creole), to enhance the study’s visibility among the target population.

To support the project’s start-up, Polygon will launch a social media information campaign to facilitate the recruitment process.
